Mosaic expands line with two hires
A Bermuda insurer has hired two tax-risk specialists, expanding its global transactional tax-liability team in an effort to meet rising demand.
Camille Zabukovec has joined the London office of Mosaic Insurance as an AVP, Tax Underwriter, supporting the transactional team on tax risks in jurisdictions outside North America.
She brings tax-risk underwriting experience and also previously worked as a tax attorney at a Paris-based firm, advising investment funds, insurance companies and banks on tax-related aspects of domestic and cross-border transactions.
In New York, Roktim Kaushik joined Mosaic’s North America tax team as VP, Tax Americas. Before coming to Mosaic, he worked as a tax attorney with a Big Four accounting firm, where his practice focused on cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, restructuring and efficient tax structures for private equity funds.
“We are seeing booming demand for tax insurance as the product penetrates new markets around the globe,” said Jon Hutchens, global head of Tax, Transactional Liability, at Mosaic.
Mosaic’s tax-underwriting team is part of the company’s transactional liability division. It now consists of six specialists who focus on a range of M&A-related and stand-alone tax risks — for which the product indemnifies policyholders against specific tax liabilities, providing certainty during dealmaking. The group distinguishes itself in complex tax issues and operates on a one-team global platform, backed by Mosaic’s syndicate 1609 capacity alongside trade capital from partner Lloyd’s syndicates, and supported by Mosaic’s sophisticated and experienced claims team.
“We are delighted to welcome the dual talents and experience of Camille and Roktim at this time of exciting growth for the team and the product,” said Will Gay, head of International Tax, Transactional Liability, at Mosaic.
Transactional liability is one of seven lines of specialty business Mosaic underwrites.
