Carey Olsen takes top prize at Citywealth Magic Circle Awards
Carey Olsen, the offshore law firm with an office in Bermuda, has won the International Law Firm of the Year prize at the Citywealth Magic Circle Awards in London.
Steven Rees Davies, a partner in Bermuda, accepted the award from Declan Curry, a business journalist who was host for the evening.
Carey Olsen has a network of nine international offices.
The runner-up in the category was Ogier, which is headquartered in Jersey, Channel Islands but operates offices worldwide.
Citywealth, founded in 2005, is a media and events company. It has a number of products and services for the private wealth management industry including awards, editorial, in-person networking and mentoring events and a user ratings directory.
More than 200 guests assembled on Wednesday evening at One Great George Street in London ― just a stone’s throw away from the Houses of Parliament ― for the ceremony.
A spokeswoman said: “The awards, now in their 19th year, and regarded as the Oscars of the finance world, recognise the best wealth managers and advisers, as well as companies, in the private wealth industry, and in particular those who invest money with charities, private families and foundations.”
Eighty-one awards were handed out at the event.
Karen Jones, founder, chief executive and editor of Citywealth, said: “With multiple elections, growing global aggression and civil protests, the wealth manager and adviser in all capacities are being called on for advice. In two decades we have not seen such critical issues up for debate.
“Now, more than ever, UHNW (ultra-high net worth) clients need to rely on the safety the industry provides to protect assets and knowledge to navigate family issues whether divorce, ESG investing, tax or succession.
“With that, Citywealth is delighted to present the best of breed for 2024. Congratulations to all the shortlisted individuals and organisations ― they are absorbing the impact of world changes and digesting them in a manageable format for their clients.”
