Man injured in Smith’s crash
A man was taken to hospital today after a single-vehicle crash in Smith’s.
A spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service said that the incident happened at about 5.10am on South Road in Smith’s, near the junction with Collector’s Hill.
He explained: “It appears that the car involved was being driven along South Road when the vehicle struck a sidewalk, a wall and a utility pole, ending up on its side.”
Police said that after the collision, the driver, a 25-year old man from Paget, remained conscious. He suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
The man was temporarily trapped inside the vehicle before emergency service crews were able to get him out.
Police, the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service and ambulance staff responded to the accident.
Traffic was diverted for 1½ hours, until the crash site was processed and the damaged car was towed away.
Inquiries continued and witnesses were asked to call 211.
