Canopius, the global specialty lines insurer and reinsurer, has made two appointments to its senior leadership team in Bermuda.

Jesse DeCouto has been named chief underwriting officer and Tonia Morgan has joined as chief financial officer of Canopius Reinsurance Ltd.

Ms Morgan takes up her new role on July 1, succeeding Teresa Gallant, while Mr DeCouto joins on September 1 in a newly created role.

They will report to Charles Cooper, the chief executive of Canopius Reinsurance Ltd and global head of Reinsurance.

Mr DeCouto, who has nearly 25 years of experience in the industry, was most recently global chief underwriting officer for Validus Reinsurance.

The company said he would also serve as Canopius’s global product leader for Reinsurance, overseeing the governance, performance and standards of reinsurance underwriting teams across the business.

Ms Morgan, who has more than two decades of finance experience in the global reinsurance industry, joins Canopius from Axa XL, where she was CFO of Bermuda Reinsurance.
