Motorist fined for Christmas Eve crash

A motorist who collided with a taxi has been fined $800 in Magistrates’ Court.

Rick Simmons, 60, admitted riding his bike without due care and attention when he appeared in court on Thursday.

The court heard that Simmons, from St George’s, was riding east on Cove Valley Road on December 24 when he collided with a taxi travelling in the other direction.

Simmons suffered a broken wrist in the incident.

In addition to being fined, Simmons, who is already disqualified from driving all vehicles, received ten demerit points on his licence.
