After more than 13 years Rubis Energy Bermuda will halt their rewards point scheme at midnight tonight, the company has announced.

However, in a statement the company said it hopes to resurrect the scheme as a mobile-based loyalty programme.

“Rubis Rewards began in February 2011, with over 14,500 Reward members engaged with the programme,” the company said.

“In the past 13 years, Rubis has issued over 97,000 Rewards in free fuel, totalling in excess of $1 million.

“Unfortunately, as the current format was heavily dependent upon multiple on-site hardware components, since the Covid-19 Pandemic, these assets have been difficult to procure.”

Any coupons printed before midnight tonight will be honoured provided that they are redeemed before the printed expiration date.

The company said that the new rewards programme is hoped to launch “in a few months” and will send promotional offers to members mobile devices.

“The new app is very near to completion, with the iOS App to be unveiled first, followed by the Google Play version,” the statement continued.

“The evolution of the Rubis Rewards will require upgraded point of sale technology at a number of service stations to allow for seamless communication between the App and the station’s POS consoles and pumps.

“Once the app is ready, and available for deployment, the roll-out will begin in phases with select stations that have the upgraded technology in place.”

The company said it was confident that the new programme would give users a “better interface to engage” with real-time access to rewards.
