Multiple lane closures scheduled for June
Several roads will be reduced to one lane of traffic this month, the Ministry of Public Works announced.
A ministry spokesman said the first lane closure will affect South Road in Smith’s near Collectors Hill Apothecary, on Sunday, so that trench work can be completed.
This work, which will be done from 7.30am to 5pm, will allow CCTV cameras to be installed along South Road.
Call Kip Froud from Invisible Trenching Limited on 236-8712 with any questions about this closure.
Other lanes in the area will be closed for milling and paving from June 13, the spokesman added.
This will affect both lanes from Collectors Hill junction with Cotswold Lane to South Road, as well as the Rotisserie grill parking lot to the bus lay-bys near Cloverdale Road.
Work will be done between 7.30am and 5pm and is scheduled to finish by June 28.
The ministry encouraged drivers to use alternative routes via Tee Street, Brighton Hill Road and Devon Springs Lane in the west and St Mark’s Road and Sayle Road in the east during this time.
The spokesman added: “Motorists that traverse through this junction should expect delays and must travel with care.
“Visitors to the Apothecary, Speciality Inn, MarketPlace and Rotisserie Grill will need to park in the designated parking areas and will be able to have access via Ap Owen Road or Marketplace driveway”.
The westbound lane of North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish, near Coney Island Road, will be closed starting on Monday.
The spokesman said this closure will allow a fence to be repaired along the North Shore Road bend.
Work will be done between 8am and 3pm and is scheduled to be finished by Wednesday.
The eastbound lane of Harrington Sound Road near Walsingham Lane in Hamilton Parish will be closed to repair a fence in the area beginning on June 6.
Work will be done from 8am to 3pm and is scheduled to finish by June 10.
Call principal highways engineer Tina Beer-Searle on 501-3044 with questions about these three lane closures.
The ministry encouraged the public’s co-operation during the closures and apologised for any inconvenience.
