Tourist injured in Sandys scooter crash
A visitor to the island was taken to hospital after a crash in Sandys on Sunday.
The 54-year-old woman, who was driving a scooter, apparently went over the embankment on Somerset Road near its junction with Morgan Hill and landed in the ocean below, police said.
A spokesman for the Bermuda Police Service said a report was received at about 5.20pm.
He explained: “It appears that a rental scooter being ridden along the westbound lane of Somerset Road, in the vicinity of Scaur Hill, struck a wall.”
The spokesman said the woman “apparently went over the embankment, landing in the ocean below”.
Police, the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service and ambulance workers attended the scene.
The woman was taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of a leg injury.
Witnesses have been asked to call 211.
