A professional services firm has pledged to donate $105,000 spread over three years to a sailing programme that aims to inspire young people.

PricewaterhouseCoopers will offer Endeavour $35,000 annually to underline its commitment to the organisation.

L&F Indemnity, a Bermudian-based captive insurance company for the PwC network of firms, will match the donation until 2026.

A spokeswoman for PwC highlighted this week: “Since Endeavour’s inception, PwC has contributed annual funding to the organisation, in addition to volunteer support and pro bono assistance.”

Scott Watson-Brown, a PwC partner, said the sponsorship highlighted the group’s “dedication to creating inclusive opportunities for youth development in sport and education”.

He added: “One statistic that stands out to us is that 97 per cent of students report improved problem-solving skills as a result of participating in the Endeavour Middle School Programme.

“We look forward to seeing the programme’s continued success and positive impact on the lives of young people in Bermuda.”

Endeavour strives to bring sailing opportunities to youngsters regardless of background or skill level.

Sailing classes give participants a crash course in Steam topics within an exciting and supportive environment.

More than 7,000 children have gone through Endeavour’s programmes and received hands-on learning experiences in sailing.

Greg Galeaz, the chief executive of L&F Indemnity, said: “We are proud to support the team at Endeavour in making sailing more accessible in our community and fostering a love for the sport in young people from all backgrounds.

“We look forward to continuing our support, and to opportunities for our people to get involved in the programme through volunteering.”

Jennifer Pitcher, the executive director of Endeavour, added: “Endeavour’s programmes build essential life skills for academic and personal success.

“The generous support from our valued donors like PwC and L&F Indemnity make Endeavour's work possible.

“Bermuda’s youth who participate in Endeavour's programmes emerge with increased confidence, enhanced skills and a lifelong appreciation for learning.

“Thank you, PwC and L&F Indemnity, for your incredible commitment and support in investing in Bermuda's future.

“Thank you for helping our young people thrive.”
