Steven Bremar is the proud recipient of a lifetime achievement award in recognition of a prolific snooker career spanning decades.

The 62-year-old had the honour bestowed upon him during Bermuda Snooker Association’s awards ceremony at Sandys Boat Club last month.

“It was definitely an honour and I was more shocked than anything,” Bremar told The Royal Gazette.

“I didn’t know that was coming. It means a lot and at is by far one of the most honourable awards you can receive, which makes me feel like all the hard work that I have done has been appreciated.”

Bremar has just completed one of his most successful seasons, winning the Tony DeSilva Memorial Cup and Bermuda Open in singles play before teaming up with Zane DeSilva to add the Bermuda Open Doubles crown to an already impressive haul.

“It’s definitely one of, if not the best, highlight of my career and a dream come true,” he added.

“All of the titles mean a lot to me and the work that I have put in has definitely paid off.

“It’s definitely a big plus for all of the snooker that I have played in my career. As far as achievements I am definitely blessed to be able to reap the rewards.”

The experienced player also savoured success representing Bermuda on the international stage this year, winning the International Snooker League tournament in Toronto, Canada, last month.

“To win that tournament put a big smile on my face,” he said. “I could not stop smiling.

“We are playing some of the best players around. Every single one of them is coming at you and it’s no room for error.”

Bremar secured a memorable victory at the prestigious scratch tournament in Toronto after prevailing three frames to one against New York Athletic Club's Ian O'Mahony in the final.
