The St David’s Primary School graduation ceremony turned out to be extra special for Zanna Jones, who walked away with the 2024 LeiLanni Nesbeth Athletic Award.

The school’s deputy head girl was chosen for the award, which is presented to female student-athletes demonstrating athletic potential and thriving in various sports as Nesbeth did while attending the school.

In addition to the award, Jones received an autographed photograph and jersey of the Chicago Red Stars player.

There was also a treat for all of Nesbeth’s former teachers at the school as they also received autographed photos.

Nesbeth, who realised her dream of playing professional football after signing an initial three-year deal in March, congratulated Jones on the achievement and encouraged her to continue to do the things which have brought her success.

“Congratulations Zanna on this award, super, super proud of you,” Nesbeth said.

“It was just a testimony to your work ethic and the sacrifices that you make into continuing to develop your craft on and off the field.

“Continue to have fun, continue to work hard and make amazing memories, and continue to have the end goal in mind. It’s all going to pay off in the end, so once again congratulations.”
