Carey Olsen congratulates Bermuda’s new Olympian
A Bermuda law firm has congratulated Bermudian Erica Hawley for qualifying for the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.
After the law firm began sponsoring her a year ago, she spent six weeks participating in races across the world to gain the points required for Olympic qualification.
“Qualifying for the Olympics is an incredible achievement and we are delighted that Erica has earned the points she needs to fulfil her dream of competing in the games,” said Carey Olsen partner Gavin Woods.
“Since we started supporting Erica we have avidly watched her sporting journey and how determinedly she has worked towards this goal.”
Qualifying for the Olympics was a long-held dream for Ms Hawley. She is grateful for Carey Olsen’s sponsorship.
“Travelling and competing around the world has been a whirlwind, but also the most incredible experience,” she said.
“I look forward to taking a break from racing and turning all my attention to training for this huge moment in my professional career,” she said.
The 26-year-old has competed professionally for six years and became a full-time professional athlete in 2022.
She is one of only two Bermudian women to place in World Triathlon’s elite women rankings, alongside Olympic champion Dame Flora Duffy.
