University graduate joins BEST internship scheme
A new university graduate has been selected to take part in a flagship internship opportunity for an environmental group.
Justus Anderson has joined the Bermuda Environmental Sustainability Taskforce as the first person on the group’s Stuart Hayward Internship programme.
Mr Anderson, who recently graduated from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, will work part-time as a junior environmental technician.
He will be involved in collecting and analysing field data, such as water quality and weather data, for the Bermuda Water Management Innovation and First Flush projects.
Mr Anderson, who hopes to later become an environmental social and governance consultant, will also help further community awareness and stakeholder engagement.
The aim of the Stuart Hayward Internship programme is to help new graduates build connections within the local environmental community to grow their budding careers.
It was named after one of BEST’s founders, who was driven by his passion for environmental protection and sustainable practices to jump-start the organisation.
After Mr Hayward died in June 2022, BEST set aside funds to create a set of paid internships for candidates who graduated from an environment-focused university course.
