The Casino Gaming Commission annual reports from 2021 to 2023 are to be tabled by David Burt in the House of Assembly today.

The Premier and Minister of Finance will also table the commission’s financial statements as at March 31, 2020.

The commission was set up in 2015 and has since cost taxpayers more than $16 million.

The Gazette filed a Pati request last year asking for the commission's annual reports, including financial statements, as only one, containing financials for the 19-month period from September 1, 2015, to March 31, 2017, had been presented to Parliament.

On September 29 last year, the annual reports for 2018, 2019 and 2020 and audited financial statements for 2018 and 2019 were tabled in the House of Assembly.

There are only two pieces of legislation to be covered — the Registrar of Companies (Annual Corporate Regulatory Fees) Amendment Act 2024 and the Motor Car (Electric or Hybrid Private Motor Cars) Amendment Act 2024.

The first deals with the annual regulatory fees that Bermuda-registered companies have to pay.

The amendment will cause two principle Acts to be deemed to have commenced on January 1, 2024 in order to have the annual corporate regulatory fee payable by all the entities referred to in those Acts to be due and payable by March 31, 2024 or another date the Registrar of Companies may determine.

The second makes amendments to provide for the dimensions and licence fee for the increased length and width of electric or hybrid private motor cars.

There will be no fewer than ten ministerial statements read out during today’s parliamentary session including an update on the new asphalting equipment and progress on road works, and an update on the Government’s plan to move Bermuda’s public schools from a three-tier to a two-tier system.
