Seven men pleaded guilty to drink-driving offences when they appeared in Magistrates’ Court last week.

Allan Simmons, 33, from Devonshire, Jermaine Willis, 43, from Warwick, Brian Philip, 23, also from Warwick, and Pembroke residents Neel Don, 41, Luis Raposo, 43, and Dajour Smith, 34, admitted drink-driving when they appeared in court.

Dominic Lambe, 29, from Southampton, pleaded guilty to an alternative charge of driving while impaired by alcohol.

The court heard that police questioned each of the men after they were seen riding dangerously, involved in a crash or found intoxicated in a parked car.

They were then taken to either Hamilton Police Station or King Edward VII Memorial Hospital to have their blood alcohol level measured.

The offences took place between October and June, and five occurred in Pembroke.

Magistrate Aura Cassidy fined Don, Raposo, Simmons and Lambe $1,500 each for the offence and disqualified them from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

She fined Willis, who was already banned from driving all vehicles when the offence occurred, $2,500 and disqualified him for an additional 18 months.

Smith and Philip, both of whom admitted having problems with alcohol during their court appearance, were ordered to participate in DUI Court beginning on Thursday.

Ms Cassidy released the two on $1,500 bail until that time and disqualified them from driving all vehicles until further notice.
