Teenaged stabbing victim in critical condition

An 18-year-old man is still in critical condition after being stabbed during an altercation last week, police said yesterday.

The teenager was taken to hospital last Thursday after an incident in Hamilton Parish at around 5.30pm.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the incident.

The incident was the latest in a string of knife crimes that have plagues the island over recent months.

Zijae Jones, 20, died over the Bermuda Day holiday this year after he was stabbed during a brawl at Horseshoe Bay, Warwick.

Dahny Simmons-Outerbridge, 18, has since been charged with his death.

Earlier that day, officers tended to a 22-year-old man who was stabbed in the face on Front Street during an apparent domestic dispute around 7.54am.

The man received was treated for his injuries and was discharged later that day.

Antoine Daniels, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, later said that three additional knife crimes had been reported over that weekend.

He added that the island had seen 84 instances of knife crimes between 2020 and May this year.
