A woman received a $500 Belco gift card as part of the company’s electronic billing campaign.

Okeisha Clarke was one of 356 customers who switched to e-billing between January 1 and April 22 and became eligible to win the prize.

A spokesman said the initiative was part of “the company’s longstanding commitment to sustainability with the goal of reducing paper use”.

“Every month, bills are still being printed and mailed and customers can help reduce this paper by switching to e-billing,” the spokesman added.

Shelly Leman, Belco managing director of transmission distribution and retail, said: “For several years, we have encouraged our customers to switch to e-billing with a goal to reduce the amount of paper we use.

“I encourage customers who haven’t signed up for e-bills yet to do so, and by working together we can reduce our environmental impact and progress our goal of ensuring Belco becomes a more sustainable company.”
