Waterlot Inn months from reopening after overhaul
A December opening date has been announced for the Fairmont Southampton’s Waterlot Inn.
The reopening was set by Westend Properties, the owners of the resort.
The Inn overlooking Jews Bay in Southampton closed in March 2020, along with the hotel and other amenities, as the Covid-19 pandemic broke out.
Westend, a subsidiary of the hospitality company Gencom, said it would open its doors this December 3 after an extensive renovation inside and outside.
Atlantic Mooring Maintenance Ltd was said to be nearing completion of the dock at the site, on course to reopen “early in 2025”, while BCM Construction is revamping the building’s interior.
New furniture, fixtures and equipment have been ordered, Westend said. Performance Construction Ltd is to start work next month on the building’s exterior, including replacing the roof and façade.
Kiaran MacDonald, the Caribbean regional vice-president and general manager of the Fairmont Southampton, said the owners were “very happy with the progress being made and are looking forward to hosting everyone back at the iconic restaurant that has been an institution in Bermuda for decades”.
Alessandro Colantonio, the chief investment officer at Gencom, called it “an exciting step in the continuation of the process of reopening the resort”.
