Prizes have gone to the winners of a raffle for Bermuda’s community of blood donors, celebrating both newcomers and regulars.

The Hamilton Princess & Beach Club is in its fourth year of sponsoring prizes for blood and apheresis donors.

Regular donor Pamela Outerbridge won a night’s stay at the resort and newcomer Malcolm Swan won a champagne brunch.

The hotel also regularly takes part in the corporate blood drive competition.

Bermuda’s service is entirely voluntary, making it “a gold standard for safety and quality”, according to acting pathology manager Giselle Ming.

She thanked “these heroes who ensure lives can be saved with safe, voluntary blood and apheresis donations”.

Tim Morrison, the Hamilton Princess general manager, said the resort was happy to support donations that were “vital for our community, saving lives and supporting critical care for patients who need therapeutic treatments”.
