Man critical after single-vehicle crash in St George’s
A man is being treated in the intensive care unit after a single-vehicle crash on Thursday night.
Police received a report shortly before midnight of a crash involving a motorcycle at Pepper Hall and Orange Hole Road, St George’s.
A spokesman said that a male rider was believed to be travelling east on Tommy Fox Road when he lost control and struck what was believed to be a metal pole.
Officers arrived to find the victim receiving treatment from EMTs.
He was taken by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
Police said that at last check the man remained in the ICU, being treated for injuries that were considered life-threatening.
Another single-vehicle crash occurred in Smith’s at 11.30pm on Thursday.
Police attended the crash involving a motorcycle near the junction of North Shore Road and Jennings Road, Smith’s.
The spokesman said that two men on the same vehicle were travelling east on North Shore Road when the rider apparently lost control as he tried to negotiate a series of bends.
The vehicle struck an embankment, throwing the two on to the roadway.
Both men were found in the road and treated by EMTs, then taken by ambulance to hospital. Their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
The two incidents are under investigation.
