Technology available to end carnage on our roads

Dear Sir,

It is unfortunate that Jan Card's letter of June 29, 2024 will fall on deaf ears and the carnage on our roads will continue. What will it take for any politician to take the necessary steps?

There is no political will to address the problem, especially with an election looming. They are more concerned about getting back into power than doing what is right.

At the last election, my comments were used at a political forum, but nothing has come of it.

Sorry, we did have rumble strips installed, which even the folks doing the installation said they are pretty useless!

Years ago, I offered to have a camera installed at no expense to the Government, only to be told we do not have the legislation to do it and it would be illegal.

How many more lives will be lost? How many lifelong injuries will people experience? How many more walls will be demolished before any action is taken?

The technology is out there, but the will to take action by our politicians is at zero.

I enclose an article on cameras being used in Britain which do everything except make you a cup of tea.

ANTONY SIESE
