Police: Jahcari Francis murder case still active, seven years on

Police continue to seek two people who were near the scene of a gun murder seven years ago yesterday in Devonshire.

Investigators also appealed for more assistance from the community to “help confirm key information” in the murder of Jahcari Antoni Francis, who was shot dead inside a home on Upland Street in Devonshire on the night of July 19, 2017.

At the time of the murder, at about 10.40pm, there were three others within the home who were said to be fortunate to have avoided injury.

In the aftermath of the “callous killing”, police called for any witnesses that lived in the area, who might have heard the gunshots, or who might have seen the shooter — who was on a motorcycle — to come forward.

A spokesman said the investigation team wished to speak with two people in particular, one of whom drove by seconds before the shooting and saw a motorcycle parked at the driveway of the residence.

The second was standing by the junction of Upland Street and Middle Road.

Their assistance was said to be “critical to certain lines of inquiry”, as police sought to “bring closure to the family of Jahcari and ensure those responsible for his murder are brought to justice”.

The killing is among a litany of unsolved murders that remain under investigation years on.
