West Ham United legend Clyde Best has challenged his former side’s academy players to fight for top honours in the Bermuda Triangle Cup.

In his brief address to the players soon after their arrival at LF Wade International Airport on Tuesday, the former Hammers urged the budding footballers to go for the win.

“You have travelled a long way so you should win it,’’ Best said. “I know you’re going to give it your best shot and do the best you can. We have a lovely country here, you’re going to love the swimming, the water and everything, so just enjoy and everything will take care of itself.”

West Ham academy, who are making a return to the island after taking part in a different tournament in the past, are in the same group with Seedorf Select, also from England, Bermuda Select and the Under-20 National Academy.

In a revised fixture list, West Ham academy start their campaign at the tournament today at 8pm against Bermuda Select.

Before they take to the field, the Hammers juniors will attend a Transforming the Beautiful Game: The Clyde Best Story event in Hamilton at 5pm.
