In addition, the ministry said: “The Bermuda police are hereby authorised to close off streets or portions of streets and authorise parking as the Commissioner of Police decides”.

Anticipation for the event is high, with a sell-out crowd expected near Cup Match.

Darren Woods, a member of Party People Entertainment, said: “We encourage all locals to secure tickets, bring your visiting friends, and we also encourage hotel staff to inform visitors about this unique local experience.”

The organisers said the event has “grown exponentially” since it started in 2016 with 300 revellers following a music truck.

“This vibrant celebration, steeped in the spirit of freedom, emancipation and unbridled joy, transforms the streets into a kaleidoscope of colour, energy and unity,” they added.

They said the event “stands as one of Bermuda's most iconic and historic events, drawing locals and international visitors alike to partake in the revelry”.

Keidric Smith, head of Party People Entertainment, said: “It's honestly amazing to see the growth of the event and how the experience has developed.

“It's our team's favourite event of the year, and we are looking forward to introducing some new elements in 2024.”

Monica Pitcher, a fan, said: “The Bacchanal Run is more than just a party; it's an experience that I encourage everyone to try and always go as a crew.

“My friends and I love to travel to international carnivals, and I'll say Bacchanal Run is truly world-class.”

The promoters thanked sponsors, adding: “We truly couldn't do it without their commitment and generosity.”
