Man banned from roads for not taking breath test

A motorist who was stopped by police in Paget has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Coury Evans, 52, admitted refusing to take a breath test and giving police false information when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that officers saw Evans riding dangerously in Hamilton on June 8 and stopped him along Crow Lane.

Evans, from Pembroke, gave officers an incorrect name and date of birth after being stopped and did not provide them with a breath sample, saying it was “his right to refuse”.

In addition to being banned, Evans was fined $1,500 for not taking the test and $300 for the false information.
