Daniel Augustus second at Two-Man Classic
Daniel Augustus enjoyed his finest moment on the Advocates Professional Golf Association Tour this year competing with Wyatt Worthington II in the Two-Man Classic at TPC Louisiana last week.
The pair finished in a five-way tie for second at ten-under 135, two shots adrift of winners Brian Ohr and Quinn Riley in the multi-format event.
“I am happy with my finish, happy with the way that I played,” Augustus told The Royal Gazette.
“Obviously, I can always go back and pick out a couple of shots where we could’ve dropped and we would’ve been in a play-off. But at the same time I made some great saves, hit some great recovery shots that kept us from making a high score, and those are the things you have to focus on.
“Not so much the bad but remember the good that you do and work on the bad things that were happening, and that’s what I have been doing for the past two months.”
Augustus and Worthington shot 65 in the first round that saw the field compete in the better-ball format to grab a share of second and thrust themselves in early contention.
They then followed up with a 69 in the final round playing in the alternate-shot format to secure a podium finish and $2,950 in prize money.
Augustus is inspired by his recent performance and reckons his game is headed in the right direction.
“Things are getting a little bit sharper, starting to roll it better, hit it better,” he said.
“I went through some swing changes and it’s starting to click now, and hopefully it can carry on for the rest of the season.
“Just trying to improve each and every day; really, that’s what it boils down to. Stop worrying about the end result and stay in the process knowing that as long as stick to the progress the results will come.”
