Man charged with attempting to cause woman’s death

A man was remanded into custody this morning after he was accused of attempting to cause the death of a woman.

Shane Todd was charged with the offence when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court, as well as of depriving the same woman of her liberty and threatening to injure her.

The 48-year-old allegedly committed the offences on August 3 in Southampton, but was not required to enter pleas today because the case must be heard in the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos adjourned the case to the September arraignment session and remanded Mr Todd, from Southampton, in custody until that time.
