Victims of shooting and knife attacks recovering

Victims of separate stabbing and shooting incidents were said to be recovering from their injuries as police continued their investigations.

A police spokesman said this week that a woman bike rider who was shot multiple times in Paget on July 29 was no longer in critical condition.

The victim, said to be in her early twenties, was recovering in the intensive care unit at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

The woman was driving a motorcycle when she and her pillion passenger were fired at several times by two men, also on a motorcycle, while travelling on South Road near Stowe Hill at about 11.10pm.

The woman crashed and was left in the road, while her passenger, a man, ran off.

A gunman then “fired multiple shots” before fleeing the scene, travelling east, police said.

The BPS also confirmed that a man who was stabbed multiple times in the early hours of July 31 had been released from hospital.

The man, said to be in his early twenties, was involved in an altercation with another man on Cambridge Road, Sandys, near its junction with Somerset Road at about 1am.

A third man on a motorcycle then arrived and stabbed one of the men several times before riding off down Cambridge Road towards Long Bay Road.

The police spokesman said: “The Bermuda Police Service continue to appeal for anyone with information on any of these incidents, to please contact Acting Detective Inspector Odessa Philip on 717-2193, or via e-mail at ophilip@bps.bm.”
