The Construction Association of Bermuda has awarded $16,000 in scholarships to three Bermudians to help them continue their education in construction-related fields.

Jaire Lawrence-Salaam is studying civil engineering at the University of Surrey in the UK; Keishun Swan is studying mechanical engineering at the University of Portsmouth; and Tommy Marshall is studying construction engineering management at Loughborough University.

The organisation said the funds were raised at its annual golf tournament, with the support of title sponsor Flex Power Tools – Builders Depot, contributing sponsor H & H Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd and numerous other sponsors and donations.

Bryan Adams, vice-president of the CAOB and co-chairman of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce construction division, said: “We had a record number of applicants this year and this bodes well for Bermuda.

“The more home-grown talent we can encourage into the construction industry the better off we, as an industry, will be.”

The CAOB said it was dedicated to making the construction industry safer, more efficient, more competitive, and better able to contribute to the development of Bermuda.
