Daniel Augustus endured a tough outing at the Mastercard APGA Tour Championship that concluded at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, Georgia, on Tuesday.

The Bermudian professional golfer finished tied for 43rd among the field of 48 players after signing off with a six-over 150.

Augustus shot an opening round 76, which he followed up 74 in the second and final round at the 7,259-yard Greg Norman-designed golf course.

American Gregory Odom Jr won the 36-hole championship by three shots.

The tournament was Augustus’s second straight appearance on the tour inside a week, having finished tied for 39th at four-over 146 in a field of 52 at the APGA Ascension Classic presented by Daugherty Business Solutions at Glen Echo Country Club.

He was one of two Bermudians competing, as compatriot Nick Jones was tied for 44th, two shots behind Augustus.

American Andrew Walker won the 36-hole event by two shots.

Local pair Augustus and Jones were both in good form heading into the Ascension Classic.

Augustus finished in a five-way tie for second competing with Wyatt Worthington II in the Two-Man Classic at TPC Louisiana while Jones picked up his first win on the Gosling’s Moongate Tour in nearly two years at Mid Ocean Club last month.

Augustus has been competing on the Advocates Professional Golf Association Tour for the past several years, while Jones was granted full exemption for this year after finishing tied for fifth on his debut in the Butterfield Bermuda APGA Championship at Port Royal Golf Course last year.
