Documentary to be shown at National Sports Centre
The Department of Health will present a documentary about childbirth and infant feeding at the National Sports Centre tomorrow.
A government spokeswoman said Milk – Born into this world, which will be shown as part of the Ministry of Health’s National Breastfeeding Month activities, “brings a universal perspective on the politics, commercialisation and controversies surrounding birth and infant feeding over the canvas of stunningly beautiful visuals and poignant voices from around the globe”.
The documentary, written and directed by Noemi Weiss, covers topics such as infant mortality, formula marketing and the business of breastfeeding.
Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, said: “This year’s theme [for National Breastfeeding Month] is ‘Closing the gap: breastfeeding support for all’.
“We are excited to include this powerful documentary in our event line-up and strongly encourage everyone with an interest in maternal and child health to attend.”
• People must reserve a space for the free screening, which will begin at 6.30pm, via asign-up geniuslink and can visitgov.bm/breastfeeding for more information about the benefits of breastfeeding and available resources
