A woman admitted leaving the scene of a crash that left a motorcyclist with a fractured hip and other injuries.

Eveline Simons, 65, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court last week to causing grievous bodily harm to Staleina Franks by driving without due care and attention.

She also pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, and failure to give one’s name and address after and accident.

The court heard that Ms Franks, who was travelling east along North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish, attempted to make a right turn on to Radnor Estate Road when she was struck from behind by a white car.

The car continued to drive without stopping before turning on to My Lord’s Bay Road.

Ms Franks contacted police, who located the car and discovered that Simons was the owner.

She admitted driving the vehicle and showed remorse for the incident, which happened May 14 last year.

The court heard that Ms Franks suffered a fractured hip and soft-tissue damage to her right shoulder. She also suffered pain to her neck, back and left leg, as well as some bruising.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos requested a social inquiry report on Simons, from Hamilton Parish, and a victim-impact statement from Ms Franks.

She adjourned the case until October 10 and released Simons on $3,000 bail.
