Traffic disruptions in Hamilton for Pride Bermuda

Police have warned motorists to be aware of traffic disruptions as Bermuda Pride 2024 celebrations take to the streets of Hamilton tomorrow.

A spokesman said the Bermuda Police Service has been actively working with OutBermuda and the City of Hamilton to ensure a safe and peaceful Pride event, including a parade scheduled to begin at 10am.

“OutBermuda, the organisers of the parade, have obtained the required permission to stage this event,” the spokesman said.

“It is anticipated that there will be a large number of participants and members of the public in attendance.”

The parade is scheduled to set out from Victoria Park, travelling south on Cedar Avenue to Church Street before turning left and continuing east to Court Street.

The procession will continue south on Court Street and then west on Front Street, before turning onto Queen Street.

Parade-goers will then travel east on Church Street until reaching Cedar Avenue, where they will continue north until they return to Victoria Park.

“The parade and activities will be monitored by police officers, inclusive of our Road Policing Unit, to ensure the safety of persons attending and working at the event and to minimise traffic disruption,” the police spokesman said.

“We advise members of the public who will be attending the area of the parade during the stated time, there will be disruption to traffic and road users are to consider alternative routes whilst travelling in the City.

“We advise the motoring public travelling in to the city via the route of Spurling Hill, this junction will remain closed as the Corporation of Hamilton are continuing their scheduled road works. Please take this in consideration whilst travelling into the city during the parade.”

The parade is expected to conclude by 11am with festivities continuing at Victoria Park.
