Bermuda Kids wins another Kindermusik award
For the third consecutive year, an island-based early childhood music and movement school has gained recognition from a leading global provider of music-based learning.
Bermuda Kids was recently named a top programme provider by Kindermusik International, the world’s leading provider of music-based education for children.
The award recognises excellence in spreading the lasting developmental benefits of music and movement through Kindermusik’s studio curricula.
Bermuda Kids, which has been serving Bermuda families since 2021, is owned and operated by Alexandra Lima, a Kindermusik accredited educator.
The school said institutions offering classes under the programme are independent and prioritise “whole-child development” which is taught through research-driven, shared musical play.
“Classes at these studios and organisations typically fill up fast because the level of teaching is exceptional, and families keep coming back for more,” the school said.
Scott Kinsey, the chief executive of Kindermusik International, said: “These accredited educators work tirelessly to not only reach more families with the power of shared musical play, but to teach parents and caregivers how to use it after class so that the learning continues.”
He added: “Their ability to continuously connect and facilitate these joyful ‘a-ha’ moments is something that really sets them apart.”
Bermuda Kids said Ms Lima guided families through joyful musical moments, during her parent and child bonding classes, with added developmental benefits.
“Music literally lights up the brain,” Ms Lima said.
She added: “The multisensory learning environment, supercharges synapses that boost whole-child development, instils confidence and leads to major cognitive leaps.”
Ms Lima said she was thrilled to be placed 64th in the rank of top educators worldwide.
“We are so excited to be named one of the top programmes around the world,” she said, adding that the recognition was extremely rewarding.
“It has been a privilege to facilitate the award-winning Kindermusik curriculum for families in Bermuda,” Ms Lima added.
“Our hard work and dedication to the community and families have paid off.”
She said: “We are assessed by many factors that contribute to this honour, and to join the list with much bigger countries such as Canada, United States and Australia is unbelievable.”
Ms Lima, who is a licensed educator with the Bermuda Educators Council, said she was working to tie more of the arts into traditional educational settings.
She explained: “It is my goal to reach more children with the power of music and movement.
“The arts are for everyone and deserve more support. Kindermusik has absolutely changed the way I teach.
“Learning should be playful and fun, making it more meaningful. If I can help one student to make positive connections with their learning, it has all been worth it.
“I am looking forward to the future of Bermuda Kids as we plan to expand into schools, childcare centres and nurseries.”
Ms Lima said new and returning families were welcome to attend her weekly Kindermusik classes which will start at the end of this month.
