Acrisure Re makes senior leadership appointments

Acrisure Re, which has operations in Bermuda, has bolstered the leadership of its international reinsurance division with the appointment of industry veterans David Sowery and Nigel Dane.

Acrisure Re Bermuda Ltd is licensed as a broker by the Bermuda Monetary Authority.

Mr Sowrey has been appointed managing director and Mr Dane has assumed the role of chairman, of Acrisure Re’s International Treaty business.

Both leaders are based in London and will continue to report directly to chief executive Simon Hedley.

As managing director of the International Treaty division, the company said, Mr Sowrey continues to lead the reinsurance broking operations, bringing both continuity and an energised focus on leading Acrisure Re’s international reinsurance business. He joined Acrisure Re in 2012.

As chairman of Acrisure Re’s International Treaty business, Mr Dane will focus on developing and strengthening relationships with new and existing clients and markets, further enhancing Acrisure Re’s partnerships with large and important cedants and reinsurers.

He has been with Acrisure Re since 2002, when he established and led the London office.

Mr Hedley said: “These strategic appointments are designed to sharpen our focus on our continued growth and strengthen our partnerships with key clients and markets, further leveraging Acrisure Group’s relationships.

“David and Nigel’s leadership will be crucial as we continue our extraordinary global growth and success. I look forward to continuing our collaboration as we strive to further expand our international reinsurance capabilities and offerings, reaching new heights together.”

In addition to its office in Bermuda, Acrisure Re operates in Florida, Chicago, Italy, London, Minnesota, New York, North Carolina, Toronto and Zurich.
