Dedication and an eagerness to learn are characteristics that have launched a new member of the island’s legal fraternity into a promising career in law.

Milaun Perott was Called to the Bar last Friday after she completed a pupillage with law firm Appleby.

A graduate of Ryerson University in Toronto, Ms Perott went on to complete her legal studies at The University of Law in Britain.

She was supported in her studies with an Appleby scholarship and also interned at the company.

At a ceremony before Puisne Judge Shade Subair Williams, Ms Perott said: “I am deeply honoured to have been admitted as the newest member of the Bermuda Bar.

“I extend my sincere gratitude to Appleby for providing me with the opportunity to achieve this significant milestone.

“It is a privilege to work alongside such brilliant and forward-thinking legal professionals who continually inspire and challenge me.

“I look forward to the promising path ahead in my legal career.”

Ms Perott spent her year long pupillage working in the firm’s dispute resolution, insurance and corporate departments.

She recently started her second year of Appleby’s legal trainee programme in the insurance department under the continued mentorship of Matthew Carr.

Mr Carr said: “Milaun has become a valued member of the insurance team in a short time.

“Her consistent, calm and dedicated approach to tasks during her training have been noticed and will position her well to progress in the coming months and years.

“Milaun has focused a significant portion of her time with the insurance team on new and emerging insurance regulation, an area that is of particular interest to our clients in our growing regulatory practice area.

“Milaun has shown that she is capable of quickly assimilating information and applying this to an array of client fact patterns.

“I look forward to seeing Milaun develop her professional profile further whilst further broadening her legal experience and skill set.”

John Wasty, who leads the firm’s dispute resolution practice in Bermuda, added: “Milaun is a wonderful addition to the Appleby team and broader legal community.

“Her steadfast dedication and eagerness to learn, showcased during her time in the dispute resolution department, will undoubtedly serve as a solid foundation for a successful career in this dynamic profession.

“I congratulate Milaun on her Call to the Bermuda Bar and look forward to watching her continued development at Appleby.”
