Breakdowns: mechanical problems to buses have necessitated the hiring of minbuses to provide after-school bus services (File photograph by Akil Simmons)
Eight minibuses will be used to bolster after-school bus services for pupils, a government representative said tonight.
The Ministry of Transportation spokesman said that the temporary measure had been made after “a combination of mechanical breakdowns and accidents” had led to a higher than normal number of buses being off the roads this week. He added that technicians “are working to repair several buses in short order”.
The spokesman said that a campaign to hire more bus driver had also begun.
