Webinar aims to build an inclusive business environment
A women’s empowerment training session aimed at embracing diversity and inclusivity in Bermuda’s business landscape is to take place virtually next Thursday.
The Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors called on business owners, corporate executives and government leaders to use the opportunity to elevate their businesses through the Women’s Empowerment Principles Training Webinar.
Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, said: “By adopting the WEPs, we can create workplaces that are not only equitable but also drive economic growth.”
The training, facilitated by Imani Duncan-Price, a consultant for the United Nations Women Multi-Country Office, will guide participants through WEPs — a global framework designed to promote gender equality in the workplace, marketplace and community.
Ms Duncan-Price has led numerous gender equality initiatives across the Caribbean and will share practical insights into how companies can reach their full potential by making gender equality a key component of their business strategy.
The ministry said that businesses that embrace WEPs can boost productivity and performance by fostering diverse perspectives, attract and retain top-tier talent, and strengthen their market presence and community impact.
They are also said to help build resilient, inclusive workplaces that foster innovation.
This training is open to business and government leaders, including:
• Owners and executives from micro, small and medium enterprises, as well as large companies
• Representatives from industry associations and chambers of commerce
• Government partners involved in promoting gender equality and entrepreneurship
The ministry, in partnership with the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation and UN Women, said it is leading the charge in advancing gender equality and women's entrepreneurship in Bermuda.
Ms Furbert added: “Gender equality isn’t just a social responsibility — it’s a smart business strategy.
“This webinar will provide participants with the Gender Gap Analysis Tool for Business Growth, offering concrete steps and data-driven approaches to implement the WEPs framework in their organisations.”
The training session is on September 19 from 3.30pm to 5pm via Zoom. Registration is available via the following link https://unwomen.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_F-X2zHgQRDKduHe0PHCwlg#/
