Jutorre Burgess plays part in historic FA Cup win
Winger Jutorre Burgess has described Harborough Town's recent historic win at home to Stourbridge in an Emirates FA Cup second round qualifier as “unreal and monumental”.
The Southern League Premier Division Central outfit dominated proceedings on the way to a convincing 4-2 triumph at Bowden’s Ground last Saturday to advance to the third qualifying round of the prestigious competition for the first time.
“It was very good to get on again in the FA Cup as one of the youngest players in the club’s history but more importantly the historic win was monumental,” an elated Burgess told The Royal Gazette.
“The atmosphere was unreal and to be part of the club during this moment has really given me the confidence to push on in my own football journey.”
The 18-year-old Bermudian got more precious minutes under his belt playing for the club’s senior squad after coming off the bench as a substitute.
Riley O’Sullivan, Connor Kennedy, Ben Williams and Luis Rose were all on target for Leicestershire cluv, while Ethan Freemantle replied for Stourbridge who were reduced to ten men after Grewal-Pollard received a second yellow card.
Burgess is now bracing himself for what he anticipates will be a “tough” encounter at home to National League North side Leamington FC in the third qualifying round.
“Obviously it's going to be a tough fixture in the next round as Leamington play in the National League North, which is the league above us,” he said.
“I actually watched them play against Deniche Hill and Leicester City U21's in a preseason friendly, which they won, but anything can happen in the FA Cup.”
Burgess has made a seamless transition since joining Harborough from Brooke House College Football Academy.
The former Hamilton Parish player has already made five appearances for the club’s senior squad and offered a glimpse of his potential in only his second appearance when coming off the bench to help salvage a point in a league derby at Kettering Town last month.
