Nahki Wells scored the decisive goal as Bristol City returned to winning ways with a 2-1 home win over Oxford United on Saturday.

Wells scored his first goal of the season from the penalty spot just ten minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute to help Bristol City turn around a 1-0 deficit at half time.

City’s victory meant they snapped a three-game winless streak and moved up to thirteenth in the Sky Bet Championship, and the match-winner was delighted to have provided the spark for victory.

“It’s the best part of the game to have an impact and score a goal,” Wells said to the Bristol City website after the game.

“Winning the match and getting us the three points is a rewarding moment, that’s for sure.

“I thought it was a relatively good performance, especially in the second half. We scored in a good moment in the second half and this is our fortress.”

Bristol City had lost their previous two matches 3-0 and Wells said how important it was to bounce back against Oxford.

“It’s important that we try to pick up as many points as we can at home and try to build something at this football stadium. Today, we were able to do that and it was a rewarding day.

“I think the fans will be happy with the win but we know we are better than that and we have to put it all together and put a full 90 minutes of together, but at the end of the day it’s about the win.”
