Lane closure and bicycle race to affect traffic

Motorists will be affected by a wall demolition in Warwick and, in Hamilton Parish, a bicycle race in the days ahead.

The Ministry of Public Works said an emergency lane closure was in effect on Burnt House Hill between Harbour Road and Paddock Drive in Warwick until September 30.

It will allow for the safe demolition of a roadside boundary wall, with work to take place between 7.30am and 5pm.

The ministry also announced that the Bermuda Bicycle Association Winners Edge Time Trial Road Race may affect motorists on Sunday morning.

The race, which starts and finishes at Harrington Sound Road, is expected to start at 7.30am and finish by 9.30am.

The riders will travel east on Harrington Sound Road and turn right on to Wilkinson Avenue.

They will then head to the roundabout and exit on to North Shore Road.

The riders will continue until the junction of North Shore Road and Middle Road.

They will then turn left on to Middle Road, left on to Harrington Sound Road and continue to the finish line.

The race is not expected to cause any road closures but motorists were urged to use caution, and traffic control measures will be in place.

Questions about to race can be directed to Andrew Charlesworth on 703-2162 or Kian Wookey on 536-4534.
