Two motorists involved in road crashes were ordered to take part in a drink-drivers’ court treatment programme.

In separate cases, Torrie Simons, 56, from Pembroke, and Timothy Linberg, 43, from Devonshire, both admitted driving while impaired by alcohol when they appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that police saw Simons’s car between a wall and pillar near Glebe Road on August 3.

The vehicle was badly damaged and both airbags were deployed.

Officers smelt alcohol on Simons’s breath, heard that her speech was slurred and took her to the Hamilton Police Station.

Separately, Linberg was taken to the station after he crashed into an electric pole in Paget on August 28.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos ordered that drug use reports be written for both Simons and Linberg and that they participate in DUI Court beginning on October 1.

She released them on $1,500 bail each until that time and disqualified them from driving all vehicles until further notice.
