Custody for man accused of importing drugs
A man has appeared in court accused of bringing more than $600,000 worth of cannabis into Bermuda.
Chandra Kota, 23, was also charged with conspiring with others to import the controlled drug and having the substance and cannabis resin with intent to supply.
The alleged offences occurred between an unknown date and September 21, and the drugs are valued at about $623,480.
As the case must be heard in the Supreme Court, Mr Kota, of no fixed abode, was not required to enter pleas in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case to the November arraignment session and remanded Mr Kota in custody until that time.
