Francesca Harland promoted at Mosaic
Mosaic Insurance has appointed underwriter Francesca Harland as its new global head of professional liability.
The move was part of an underwriting and operational team restructuring designed to drive growth of Mosaic’s vital agency business.
Ms Harland, steps up to replace Anna Jay, who in July was named the company’s new active underwriter, Syndicate 1609.
“We are thrilled to announce Francesca’s promotion, recognising the value she has brought to Mosaic and her ability to strategically drive the business forward,” said Ms Jay.
“Professional liability is a core class for Mosaic, embodying the key characteristics we look for in portfolios of business and distinguishing itself from peers by offering expert insights in carefully selected specialist segments.”
She said Mosaic continued to see opportunity to grow its portfolio, both by segment and geographic footprint.
“Francesca has the right experience and approach to deliver this,” Ms Harland said.
The company has grown its gross written premium in this line of business by nearly 400 per cent since the unit launched in June 2021.
Ms Hay said Ms Harland had a strong track record in the sector, focused on miscellaneous and emerging risks and working with clients to develop niche products in the area.
She joined Mosaic in 2021 from Pembroke Syndicate 4000, where she was an underwriter from 2015, and has been instrumental in building out Mosaic’s professional liability portfolio, developing both its US and international account.
“I’m delighted to be stepping up to lead the professional liability unit at Mosaic,” said Ms Harland.
“I’m proud of our growth and traction in the global market to date and look forward to working with this talented team to continue building our business in a dynamic marketplace.”
With a current team of ten specialists overseeing a broad range of disciplines, the unit provides coverage including errors and omissions and after the event (litigation liability).
