East End Kiwanis ready for the coming year
New leadership has been announced for the St George’s branch of an international service club dedicated to “improving the world, one child and one community at a time”.
The Kiwanis Club of St George’s said it had elected its team to “steer the organisation for the upcoming year”.
The club said its new officers and directors group included “seasoned club members, along with a few relative newcomers”.
Chosen to steer the executive for the year is David Burgess, also the Lieutenant Governor of the Kiwanis Clubs in Bermuda.
He is joined by Scarlett Pottinger, a former Lieutenant Governor, as secretary.
Shenae Ball Lindo was appointed as treasurer.
New directors are Terrylynn Lewis, Peri Nolan Trott, past treasurer Vincent John Jr, Lieutenant Governor Altama Burgess, and immediate past president Keina Rollins.
In accordance with Kiwanis International, incoming officers and directors, along with other high-ranking leaders, for all clubs took office on Tuesday.
The new club president said that because the global charity’s main focus was to serve the children of the world, all proceeds raised would be committed to that goal.
The Kiwanis Club of St George’s has previously used donated funds to send a cancer-stricken child to Disneyworld.
Other charitable deeds include supplying hundreds of medical pumps to asthma sufferers, and donating food hampers to needy families at the East End.
