Convergence 2024 will discuss innovation acceleration in science research
Record-breaking hurricanes, dangerous wildfires and extreme heat events have dominated recent news cycles.
Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences chair Stephen Weinstein believes it all serves as a reminder of the growing need to promote physical resilience and life safety from rising and emerging risks.
At next week’s Convergence 2024 conference, Mr Weinstein will moderate a panel called Accelerating Solutions in Markets and the Field – How Collaboration and Innovation Can Close Protection Gaps, Extend our Understanding, and Put Technology to Work.
This session will examine how business and science leaders are enhancing our understanding of emerging risk, creating and measuring adaptation and resilience solutions, and accelerating new products, coverages and market solutions.
Other speakers in the discussion will by Hamilton Insurance Group’s Hanni Ali; Aanika Biosciences’ Vishaal Bhuyan; Wildfire Water Solutions’ Mike Echols; Eusebio Scornavacca, a professor at Arizona State University’s School for the Future of Innovation in Society; and Brian Sherman, of Southwest Sustainability Innovation Engine.
There will be a series of afternoon sessions on Tuesday looking at converging innovation, accelerating science and ILS solutions. Various experts in business and science will discuss how their organisations pursue game changing ideas and collaboration to bring new solutions to market.
Appleby Bermuda will be the gold sponsor for the conference for the twelfth year.
Bermuda managing partner Brad Adderley, a founding member of ILS Bermuda, the professional group behind ILS Convergence, said: “With its unique and engaging format, Convergence sparks vibrant discussions and opens doors to forward-thinking solutions. We look forward to the influential ideas and innovative solutions this year’s networking event will generate.”
The conference, organised by ILS Bermuda, runs from October 7 to 9 at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.
