Appleby has retained its Planet Mark Business Certification for a further year, reducing carbon emissions by 37.2 per cent, the law firm has said.

In a statement it was said to underline the group’s commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible business practices.

The statement said: “To retain its certification, Appleby was required to measure and reduce emissions across the group while working to improve data quality.

“Appleby saw significant growth during the period yet was able to achieve a 37.2 per cent absolute reduction in measured Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 39.2 per cent per employee reduction compared to the previous year.

“As a Planet Mark Certified Business, Appleby and its clients benefit from the assurance that the group’s carbon footprint has been independently verified.

“The certification is a recognised symbol of sustainability progress which demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to measuring and reducing their carbon emissions, ultimately contributing to Appleby’s environmental, social and governance capability.”

Malcolm Moller, Appleby Group managing partner said: “We are delighted to have retained our Planet Mark Business Certification for 2024 and to have achieved such a significant reduction in carbon emissions.

The organisation added that Appleby’s sustainability efforts extend beyond solely reducing its carbon footprint.

Across its international network of offices, the group actively engages in community initiatives, supports charitable causes and advocates for responsible business practices.
