Three face drugs and guns charges

Three men have been accused of conspiring to bring firearms, ammunition and cannabis into Bermuda.

Jonah Smith, 26, from Southampton, Taijuan Davis, 29, and Malachi Paynter, 19, both from Sandys, were charged with the offences when they appeared in Magistrates’ Court today.

Mr Davis and Mr Paynter were further charged with importing two firearms, 24 rounds of ammunition and cannabis into the island.

The offences allegedly occurred between an unknown date and September 24.

None of the men were required to enter pleas today because the case must be heard in the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos adjourned the case to the November arraignment session and remanded the men in custody until that time.
