Stranded after flight with no recourse to Uber
Dear Sir,
We arrived on Monday evening on the BermudAir flight from Westchester County Airport. It was 9pm, on time, no problem.
At the same time the British Airways flight from London had just arrived a bit late.
When we got out to pick up a taxi, there were no taxis and about 50 people waiting to get a ride.
I called a local taxi I use, but she was “in bed” so couldn’t drive. Then I called 505-4141 and the main taxi centre had no idea taxis were needed.
Fortunately, a very nice Bermudian took pity on us and drove us to our house, but I felt terrible for all the others — mostly tourists, some with children — who were stranded for who knows how long.
Why on earth don’t the airlines arrange with the taxi services to be at the airport? I know taxis don’t like to drive after about 9pm, but that is their business — to provide a service.
We need Uber here in Bermuda … everywhere else has it.
Either that or we need a reliable way for tourists to move around the island after a long, long flight — or even a short one!
