Representing the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club, McNiven, who had a near flawless first day with three wins and a second, found things slightly tougher on day two, finishing with three third places and a runner-up spot in the four races on Sunday.

After ditching his worst result, which was one of the third-place finishes, McNiven ended the regatta with a net score of 13 points, leaving him just one point clear of runner-up Ned Johnston, from Northeast Harbor Boat Club in the United States, who finished on 14 points after winning the final three races.

Courtenay Jenkins, representing Gibson Island Yacht Squadron, won the first race on Sunday and finished with a score of 21 points to take third place.

Local sailor Craig Davis may be ruing a couple of poor performances after failing to finish the final race and not sailing the race course in race five. That meant one of his big scores had to count and his boat finished in fourth place with 30 points.

Hubert Watlington and the crew of Bermuda 2 finished sixth of the nine-boat fleet on 38 points, with co-helmsmen Colin James and Ray DeSilva finishing eighth on 53 points
